Long drives on larger lots
Zachary still has plenty of room. Homes on an acre or more, set well back from the road, are common outside the center of town, and that means long driveways. Paving a long drive is a big job, and the right surface depends on how it is used. For the stretch near the house where cars park and turn, asphalt is usually the best choice. For a long run out to the road, we will also price tar and chip or a compacted millings base, so you can compare cost and finish before deciding.
Turning a gravel drive into pavement
Many Zachary driveways started as gravel or shell. Paving over them can work well, because an old gravel drive that has been driven on for years is often a decent base already. We check its depth and firmness, add and compact stone where it is thin or soft, shape a crown so rain runs off both sides, and then lay the asphalt. Where the drive meets the road at a ditch, we look at the culvert as well, since a blocked pipe sends water back under the new surface.

Newer neighborhoods and town streets
In the newer subdivisions and the older streets near the center of town, the work looks more like Baton Rouge: driveway replacements, resurfacing of driveways that have gone gray and cracked, and repairs where roots or water have lifted or sunk the surface. Businesses along Main Street and the highways get lot patching, sealcoating and striping. The asphalt driveway cost guide shows how each type of job is priced.
